چکیده

There are many ferromagnetic particles dispersed in carrier oil in magnetorheological fluids. Assuming Newtonian motion, the forces between particles of different radius, including magnetic interaction, viscous force and contact interaction, are obtained, and the corresponding model for motion of particles is proposed. Under an external magnetic field, the microstructures in bidisperse magnetorheological fluids are simulated, and the mechanical properties under both external magnetic field and macroscopic shear strain are investigated. The influence of attached particles on the side of dipolar chains is analyzed. It shows that particle size ratio in bidisperse suspensions can influence the performance of MR fluids.

Estimation of the Eeective Permeability in Magnetorheological Fluids

Magnetorheological (MR) uids constitute examples of controllable (\smart") u-ids, whose rheological properties vary in response to an applied magnetic eld. These uids typically consist of micron-sized, magnetizable particles dispersed in a non-permeable carrier uid. The essential characteristic of MR uids is that they may be continuously and reversibly varied from a state of free owing liquids ...

Simulation of Magnetorheological Fluids Based on Lattice Boltzmann Method with Double Meshes

In order to study the rheological characteristics of magnetorheological fluids, a novel approach based on the two-component Lattice Boltzmann method with double meshes was proposed, and the micro-scale structures of magnetorheological fluids in different strength magnetic fields were simulated. The framework composed of three steps for the simulation of magnetorheological fluids was addressed, ...

Modelling and Simulation of Electro- and Magnetorheological Fluid Dampers

Electroand magnetorheological fluids are smart, synthetic fluids changing their viscosity from liquid to semisolid state within milliseconds if a sufficiently strong electric or magnetic field is applied. When used in suitable devices, they offer the innovative potential of very fast, adaptively controllable interfaces between mechanical devices and electronic control units. This paper gives an...

Haptic interfaces based on magnetorheological fluids

In this paper we present an innovative application of magnetorheological (MR) fluids to haptic interfaces. These materials consist of a suspension of a micron-sized, magnetizable particles in a synthetic oil. Exposure to an external magnetic field induces in the fluid a change in rheological behaviour turning it into a near-solid in few milliseconds. Just as quickly, the fluid can be returned t...

Investigating the Effect of Polythin and Polydrill on the Properties of Drilling Fluids

In this study, synthetic sulfonated polymers were used in order to enhance the rheological properties of drilling fluids. The capability of these polymers in reducing the effects of environmentally friendly, but harmful, pollutants such as cement, calcium chloride, gypsum as well as pH changes were investigated. In the present work, two sulfonated synthetic polymers, namely Polythin and Polydri...
